Lansing Day of .Net a Success
On Saturday June 21st the Greater Lansing User Group for Microsoft .NET (GLUGnet) organized its first major educational conference. GLUGnet was formed over 4 years ago to spread the word and educate programmers on the Microsoft .NET platform. The conference on Saturday brought in over 20 excellent speakers, some as far as Tennessee to speak at the event. The event was held at the Lansing Community College M-TEC facility and had over 200 total attendee.
Attending the event was 100% free. Everything was organized by volunteers from the non-profit GLUGnet and the facilities, food, beverages, t-shirts, bags, free software and books were all graciously provided by sponsors for the event.
Local company employees really played a major role in organizing and running the event throughout the day. Jeff McWherter and Joe Kunk from Okemos AJ Boggs, Vivek Joshi from IDV Solutions, myself Ryan Doom from Web Ascender, as well as Betsy Weber from Tech Smith attended and provided sponsorship dollars and free software.
Lots of thanks to the sponsors!
It was great that Lansings mayor Virg Bernero came by and delivered an excellent speech to the audience.
Even the news came by to shoot some footage.
I can’t wait until next years’ event!
