I just reformatted my Fujitsu Lifebook T Series 4215 Tablet PC. I upgraded it from XP to Vista about 14 months ago and recently messed up some licensing files for some products I use daily and figured it wouldn’t hurt to just wipe it clean. I did the following...
· Copy the important folders off of my machine to an external Hard Drive
o _Web-Ascender
o _Doom
o Temp (I store random things in here, I wouldn’t miss anything if it was deleted)
· Backed up my mail box, calendar, contacts to PST or CSV
· Install Norton Ghost
· Ghost my machine
· Pop in the Vista DVD
· Reformatted my machine
· Installed Vista
· Configured Dvorak as my default key settings
· Installed Sharp Keys to remap my caps lock to backspace (it’s so much better than the normal backspace, try it for 3 days you’ll be sold)
· Installed Office Ultimate from our Empower ISV
· Installed Office Visio
· Installed 15 or so drivers for my tablet
· Ghosted my machine again
· Setup Outlook and Zimbra
· Imported all my data from my mailbox
· Next steps
o Adobe CS3 Suite
o Visual Studio 2008
o SQL Server 2005
o VMware player
o Install Firefox
o Move my files back on
o Ghost
o Install Vista SP1
I’m sure I have a bit more to do tomorrow, but I’m looking forward to the clean slate!
